Blair Waldorf

 

Those familiar with the Gossip Girl know that the main character of the series and TV show is Blair Waldorf.  The character is portrayed by actress Leighton Meester in the television series.  Gossip Girl creator Cecily von Ziegesar has referred to the character as "a girl of extremes."  She is both snobbish and sensitive and is an overachiever.  Blair is the main focus of the Gossip Girl blogger since she is the queen of the social scene in Manhattan.

Blair Waldorf starts off in the series as a teenager living a life of privilege in New York.  Blair is known to be an overachiever with everything a girl could want when it comes to money and status.  She finds out that he boyfriend Nate and he friend Serena are having an affair behind her back.  The situation is soon settles and the two girls try to keep their feelings from coming between them and their friendship.

Blair then goes for a college interview at Yale.  She tells the interviewer about the stress she has recently dealt with in her life, which doesn't seem to impress the interviewer.  She then kissed the male interviewer on the cheek before leaving.  In an effort to help her chances of getting in. Blair's father donates a vineyard worth several million dollars to the university.  Despite this, Blair is still put on the waiting list for acceptance to the college.

Blair's relationships tend to end in big messes with comical results.  This is because she usually finds something out about their personal lives.  Eventually, Blair gets into Yale and then makes up with Nate.  The problem is that Nate also is in love with Serena.  Instead of choosing one of the girls, he ends up leaving to sail around the world while Blair and Serena decide to remain friends with one another.

While at Yale, Blair starts dating a guy named Pete.  The two eventually separate and Blair goes to New York where she meets up with Nate and makes up with him again.  After they reunite, Nate says that he will go to Yale with her.  However, Serena gets jealous and tells Nate that Blair already has a boyfriend back at Yale.  After this happens, Blair goes back to Yale by herself.  Blair soon breaks up with Pete and starts seeing another guy named Chuck Bass.  This does not last long and Blair breaks up with him after feeling like things were getting to serious in the relationship.  Nate comes back in the picture again after sending text messages to both of the girls.  Blair and Serena decide to travel to Europe together instead of fighting over who gets to be with Nate.

The Gossip Girl TV series will enter its fifth season beginning in 2011.  Leighton Meester has announced that she will leave the show once he contract is up in 2012, so the show will either end or they will find someone else to play the role of Blair Waldorf.
